This is the second part of my weekend down in SF. I only had Sunday to do sightseeing since I have to be at the airport by 6pm so it was a condensed version. Overall I really enjoyed the trip even though I was literally freezing my ass off. LOL! The buildings there are really unique, there's nothing like that here in Vancouver. The whole block of residences are attached side by side and they each of them are really narrow. Many have a bit of a Mediterranean-style or maybe European look to them. And omg, the hills are SO steep! I was holding on to my arm rest as we went down some of the hills. Soo crazy! To think people living there are so used to driving up and down...good thing it doesn't snow much down there. =P
Anyways, here are some highlights of the places we went:
We drove from Sunnyvale to downtown San Francisco in the morning. We first stopped at Pier 39 just like most tourists since it is one of the major attractions by the bay and this is a resting area for sea lions. =P
View of Alcatraz penitentiary. That's the max I could zoom >.< I wanted to take the cruise over there but I doubt my grandma would like a prison tour LOL!
There are plenty of shops there at Pier 39, mostly souvenir items and light meals like fish and chips, clam chowder and crepes. Seeing that huge amount of chocolate...I had to make an attempt to "eat" it...HAHAHA!
A shot of some of the shops. It would've been really nice there if it weren't for the weather..>.<"
Me being weird with a puffer fish. Somehow I ended up with a "pucker" face instead of a "puffer" face.=P
So we left Pier 39 after lunch and visited Lombard Street aka "crookedest street". Pretty crazy with all those hairpin turns down the steep hill. I can't believe they even have a traffic controller to direct cars going into it. I guess they really do need them though or else whole area will be congested with cars.
On Golden Gate Bridge.
With my grandma on one of the observation points across the bridge. I had to switch jackets because it was so windy.
In Sausalito, a small town near the water after you cross the bridge. Very nice place to stroll around. It was actually warmer here!
Guava sorbet and strawberry ice cream. Yummmm.... =P
The scenery by the blue water was absolutely gorgeous. The blue building is some kind of restaurant. It would be so nice to enjoy your meal over looking the bay. =)
Finally, Golden Gate Park is our last stop before my parents drop me off at the airport. This park is quite large...and long. It's pretty much in the middle/west side of SF. These shots show an island in the park that is surrounded by a river. I would love to roll a boat on the river too if I had time! =)
